Human Design shows you how the energies of your body and mind work together to interpret the language of your aura. Learning the Human Design system does not mean you gain enlightenment. It is a practical and experimental system that reveals the mechanics of energy.
Human Design avoids religious or spiritual dogma, making it accessible to everyone. It incorporates elements from spiritual systems—like the I-Ching, Kabbalah, and chakras—but focuses on their mechanics, not beliefs.
For instance, the I-Ching is associated with Taoism and divination. HD uses the hexagrams in prescribed ways that we can test experientially, leaving divination and religion out.
The Tree of Life is associated with the mystical aspect of Judaism called Kabbalah. HD uses the paths and sephiroths and leaves the dogma out.
The concepts of chakras and atman vs Anātman are associated with Hinduism. But HD uses the energy hubs, true self and not self, but leaves the worship of deities out.
HD distills spiritual systems into mechanics and brings them together to show us how the mechanics of life operate.
In the same way, we can look at any other spiritual system or practice from a mechanical perspective, to understand how it is mapped into the Program at large.
In my perspective, Source works like a Russian nesting doll. Your aura (which can also be called your soul) contains your mind and body. The Earth holds your aura. The solar system holds the Earth, and so on, all infinitely nested within Source.
Here’s how the mechanics have shaped my perspective:
When I realized Christ is a reflection of the energy of Source, and so am I, my relationship with Him and my understanding of the scriptures deepened:
1 John 3:1-2 - See what great love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called sons of God. And that is what we are.
The connection to the divine happens when our bodies and minds are focused on Source and personalized layers of energies beyond the Program.
Spirituality is the personalized inner experience of the connection to the divine that allows for more self-discovery. This is why kundalini awakenings can happen spontaneously when we are connecting to Spirit.
Religions are formalized doctrines and community rituals that are tools that train our focus inwards, to the divine. Prayer and meditation are examples of these tools that religions may subscribe to specific methods.
For instance, praying at various times of the day, with specific words, or repeating a certain number of times by counting on beads. Or meditation with certain body postures and breathing techniques. All of these approaches are training tools for our body and mind to focus on the divine as a reflection of our Self.
All spiritual practices are training tools that enable us to have more self-reflected consciousness. Human Design included.
So once we have mastered the tools of prayer and meditation, we can connect to the divine with less formality.
For me, prayer and meditation are tools for my human mind to communicate with the personalized energy of Christ when I'm alone, which brings me back to Source.
When I'm with others and in my waking life, Strategy and Authority are the practical tools for my mind to understand the wisdom being received by my body.
While religion is useful for training our focus and providing a sense of community, it is unhelpful when conditioning us with belief.
Religion usually operates on undefined ego and ajna energy, taught by people dedicated to proving their certainty about their religion, making all other religions 'wrong'. This fosters "us vs. them" mentalities, overriding our inner knowing that we are all connected to Source. These mentalities are the source of conflict, wars, and discrimination.
Dogma is a set of strictly enforced doctrines and rules designed to discourage critical thinking and doubt. Dogma leads to alienation and judgement, stifles personal growth and freedom of expression, creates resistance to innovation, and ends with exploitation, corruption, and abuse.
Religious teachings about sin, guilt, or eternal punishment are conditioning agents designed to homogenize our creative expression by creating an experience of anxiety or shame while trying to meet moral standards.
However, Human Design reveals how our energy interacts with the world, offering a framework for self-awareness to experiment with, rather than prescribing a rigid doctrine. It encourages personal exploration and integration without requiring adherence to dogma.
In other words, because I understand my unique design, I no longer require a generalized recipe for "righteous living" via religion, because I already have the user manual for my aura.
Just because I understand my energy through the lens of Human Design, doesn’t mean life gets easier. Understanding is not immunity.
For example, as an emotional projector:
Whether our solar plexus is defined or not, when we are emotionally flooded, our minds become unreliable. The solar plexus, where emotions live, is twice as strong as the ajna, where mental awareness resides. So when we are in the throes of a peak or valley, our mind isn’t equipped to “logic” our way out.
Emotions exist to bring us closer to spiritual awareness. The chaos that we perceive to be outside of us, is a reflection of the turbulence within. Understanding the chaos of our emotions allows us to gain perspective of this inner turbulence, and uncovers the truth of who we are.
The religious texts are right: growth comes in surrender. When we give up fighting against the flow of spirit, we gain 'enlightenment'. In Human Design, we call this 'No Choice'.
For me, prayer and meditation help my mind to surrender. When I cry it out, pray it out, or yell at the void—I reconnect to Spirit and, by extension, to Source.
Feeling leads to healing, which leads to deconditioning, which aligns us back to our path.
Trust yourself and trust Source. Pray, cry, feel. The low isn’t the end—it’s the portal.
And if all else fails, just remember: even when life feels like it’s dragging you through the mud, you’re still quantumly nestled inside the divine. God’s got you—even when you’re ugly crying on your meditation seat.
Connecting to your inner guidance is essential.
Following your strategy and authority deepens your connection to your spirit because your mind is participating in a spiritual dialogue via the wisdom of your body.
You are an intentional and intricate creation, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Human Design shows the uniqueness of each individual in a bodygraph as unique as our fingerprint. Our designs are no accident, they are divinely created by the Programmer, as a single part of the whole Program.
Even our Not Self, our perceived flaws or challenges, serve a higher purpose. Nothing about us is random.
The world may be growing more chaotic, but your design will not change. When your mind comprehends how beautifully complex and unique you are, you will experience more gratitude for your creation. This leads to radical self-acceptance to start living in alignment with your true nature.
